बेटियाँ एक दिन अचानक यूँ ही बड़ी हो जाती हैं

 

सुनी-सी घर की बगिया में,

जब वो चिड़ियाँ  बिन-पंख उड़ी आतीं हैं,

अपनी बातों और जस्बातों से,

ज़िंदगी में ख़ुशियों की झड़ी ले आतीं हैं,

नन्हे कदमों से अपने,

प्यारे से एक बंधन की हथकड़ी ले आतीं हैं,

बेटियाँ जिस घर आतीं हैं,

सुख, सौभाग्य और सम्पन्नता वहीँ ले आतीं हैं,

नन्ही-सी परियाँ, माँ की सखी-सहेली,

और पिता की लाड़ली बड़ी हो जाती हैं,

प्यार देतीं हैं इतना कि,

हर कष्ट और रोग बूटी व जड़ी हो जातीं हैं,

और जवानी की ज़िम्मेदारी 

तब  बुढ़ापे की छड़ी हो जाती हैं,

जब हाथ थामे चलने वालीं, 

अपने पैरों पर खड़ी हो जातीं हैं…

बेटियाँ जाने कब, कैसे और क्यूँ,

इतनी बड़ी हो जातीं हैं…

Our daughters surprised us with a breakfast on bed today. As much as it felt nice, it came as a reminder that they are growing up, growing up fast, so fast that soon they will be on their way to their careers, their personal lives. As parents we often complain about our children not learning quick enough, soon enough, and when they do, we want them to unlearn it all and come back to being the little kids they are :)
